One of the most well known sermons of all time is Jonathon Edwards, "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God". In this sermon we are led to believe that Gods first disposition towards mankind is emnity. Is this right, is God in a constant state of anger towards us? If this is what you have been told the simple truth is you have been lied to. For centuries religion has used fear to manipulate and control. Even though Jesus revealed a loving Father tradition has given us the godfather.

Whatever the anger or wrath of God is the above verse assures us it doesn't look like ours. This means that if your image of Gods wrath looks anything like mans, its wrong. 
Jesus tells us to Love our enemies and turn the other cheek. Does God expect us to be more loving than Him?

Even though Jesus changed, contridicted and even ignored certain Old Testament scriptures that wrongly portrayed God as angry and wrathful, we don't. Tradition has told us we must give as much weight to what the Old Testament writers said as we do the words of Jesus. What do you think Jesus would have to say about that?
